Despite repeated warnings from Islamabad to control non-developmental expenditures and lavishness, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has appointed three more advisers.
Two of the advisers were sworn in by the Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed here on Friday.
The PM had approved the appointment of Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz, (non-state subject), Raja Mubashir Ejaz and Chaudhry Ilyas as “advisers” under section 6-A of the Rules of Business, 1985.
According to the AJK Interim Constitution 1974, only “Plebiscite Adviser” can be appointed. However, the special posts have been created to accommodate the political workers as “advisers”.
These advisers will get perks similar to that of a minister.
Government Adviser Chaudhry Riaz is a resident of Faisalabad and has been appointed on the special instructions of Pakistan Peoples Parties central leadership, while Mubashir Ejaz and Chaudhry Ilyas hail from Bagh and Kotli districts respectively.
President of Pakistan PML-N and opposition leader in AJK assembly, Raja Farooq Haider, said that after the appointment of three more advisers, the federal government will find it hard to believe that Majeed will ensure austerity measures and good governance in the region.
He said the AJK PM has no interest in the development and implementation of merit in the area.
